Exceed and Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing
Permalink Closed

1.  If I make 2 or more virtual desktops, then the xterms opened in different desktops come to desktop in wgich Exceed was first started.

2. Looks like solution is to use non-virtual desktop, and then open exceed in different desktops. But then Netmeeting is executing in Default desktop only. I am able to make the remote connection and taken to Default desktop, however, when I switch to other desktop it stops taking any keyboard or mouse inputs.

Just to better undestand... You open Exceed in a desktop, and then other Exceed windows (sessions) in virtual desktops. When you switch out the virtual desktop, and then in again, the Exceed window is not displayed. it only appears in the default desktop.

Correct?

Yes, you are absolutely right.  After opening Exceed sessions in different virtual desktops if I switch between these desktops, all the Exceed sessions appear in default desktop. No Exceed session is lost.  Other applications, like IE works fine in their respective virtual desktops.

Upgrading to VDT 2.51 did resolve the issue of my Exceed sessions appearing in Default Desktop only.  However, after upgrade on one occasion I did notice that one of Exceed session appear in Default Desktop. One of my friend also reports that his IE session appear in Default Desktop only on one occasion.

What do you mean by "one of Exceed session appear in Default Desktop"?

Internet Explorer is a strange program that can have a strange behaviour when used in multiple virtual desktops (in fact, when one of its windows is hidden); can you describe a bit more the problem?

What I mean is, I have Exceed window open in one of virtual desktop. As expected it is also visible in Default desktop. However, at random this Exceed window disappears from virtual desktop and is visible only in default desktop. So essentially no data is lost, but I have to use Desktops Explorer to bring it back in virtual desktop.

I will check this.
To easily add a window to a virtual desktop, use the VDT Tasks Manager (left click the VDT icon for 2 seconds to display the Tasks Manager) while in the virtual desktop.
To avoid window disappearing, add a rule to the virtual desktop based on window's title.

Can you give me more information?

Did you opened the disappearing Exceed Window while staying in the virtual desktop?
Did you switch off and on before the window disappears?
Did you do something like pressing a hot key when the window disappeared?

Thank you
