I'm using Trillian IM manager and outlook. Yesterday and today I had both programs try to pop up a window and they "vanished". They were open and listed in each application but the window was not on any of my VDs, not even the default desktop.
Are you using virtual desktops or non virtual desktops? Which VDT version are you using? Which OS version?
When you say "vanish", do you mean that the windows appear, and then immediately disappear?
Do the windows vanish immediately or after a delay?
Do they vanish while staying in the virtual desktop or when switching out/in?
VDT doesn't work with windows while staying in a single virtual desktop. It just hides or shows windows when switching in/out. Moreover, VDT doesn't consider popup windows differently from standard windows. When you go in the Desktops Explorer, are the hidden windows listed in the default desktop?
I'm only using virtual desktops. This happens while remaining in a single VD.
I'm not sure if they appear/disappear or just fail-to-appear. I don't notice they are missing right away and I'm away from my desk frequently. I could be that they open and I never see them or it could be that they open while I'm away and then disappear before I return.
When I switch to the default desktop via the desktop toolbar the windows are not there. They only showed up when I quit VDT.
Well, I made a few tests under W2K Sp4; I developed a program that produces popup windows and it worked without any problem.
VDT doesn't do anything while staying in a single virtual desktop, so it should not hide any popup. Moreover, VDT doesn't subclass windows in order to prevent them to appear.
Can you describe a little bit more the behaviour on your computer?
