hi, i'm not sure if that's really how vdt's supposed to work but whenever i have multiple windows in multiple virtual desktops, the tasks in taskbar keep re-arranging whenever i switch to and from.
Have the same issue. It appears that the windows are ordered by access with the most recently accessed on the left. At this point I simply want to switch between VDT's and have them return in EXACTLY the same condition that I left them in. Perhaps I'm missing a configuration option?
Also have problems with windows being sticky even tho the pushpin is out (esp. M$-Excel) and occasional windows that cannot be made unsticky by pulling out the pushpin.
Looks like there are a lot of interesting features in this package, but until the basic VDT functionality that I expect is there, I have little interest in exploring and even less in registering.
There is no API in Windows that allows to ask for a button position in the taskbar, so it is not possible to implement a backup/restore process. I however found a solution to order by name the buttons in the taskbar. Download the latest version here http://www.r2d2-software.com/VDT/VDTSetup.EXE and install it.
To enable the sort feature, right-click the VDT icon in the notification area, go to the Settings option, then Virtual Desktop Toolbox. In the first tab, check the Sort by name the taskbar buttons, and then click Ok. This is a startup option, so you have to logoff/logon.
When enabled, buttons in the taskbar are sorted by name every time you switch (but not while staying in a single desktop). So, provided no window caption has changed and no window was created, buttons should stay at the same position when switching out/in. I'm still testing, so don't blame me if buttons are not reorganized as wanted.
Note that buttons can be sorted depending on a unique ID linked to the windows, but you will have to edit the registry to change this setting; let me know if you want to do so.
I think I fixed too the Excel problem of anonymous; Excel is a software that freezes a long time when started or used (executing a macro, ...). I made a change to better manage windows that are freezed while switching (they don't react to the show/hide requests while freezed, so a special process must be implemented).
