Exceed Serious Bug with Control-key makes entire computer unusable
Permalink

Exceed's X server has a serious bug, where it hijacks the keybarod handling of your entire computer, making it behave as if Ctrl is always held down;
eg in a text editor, large chunks of text are forcibly selected;
alt-tab moves backward, not forward, through the open applications list.
The mouse is also adversely affected.
There was a post to
http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=38157&p=3&topicID=3207992&subForumID=77627&topicPage=
but that seems to be closed now.
Once, pressing cltr, windows-key and F cleared the problem,
but other times I had to reboot completely.
Does anyone know of a fix or workaround for this?
Any help very much appreciated.

What are your OS and VDT versions?

You can try this:

Run the registry editor, go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\R2d2KernelAuthority\Parameters key and edit the _NeverSubClassPrograms value (create a REG_MULTI_SZ value if it doesn't exist yet; you can use the NeverSubClassPrograms as a template); add the *\Exceed.exe line).

Restart your computer.

PS: I close a thread when I don't have any answer after a few days.

Using Windows XP;
Exceed version 7.1.0.0.

This bug only manifested when in Tokyo office where network had high latency
(contacting emacs at server in eastern US), so cannot reproduce, unfortunately.

Thanks for suggestions.
